Honouring the earth means honouring our bodies.
A world that honours cyclicality is a world where capitalism cannot exist.
It’s the first day of a new cycle for me today.
I’m bleeding into the earth in my back yard, sitting with a fucktonne of grief and rage around how disconnected, apathetic, and even repulsed menstruating people are indoctrinated into being about our bodies.
Angry at world that normalises authoritarian control and hyper-individualist obsession with productivity and extraction by shaming and pathologising cycling bodies.
How easy it becomes to condition us into exponential growth, forward momentum, and a relationship of dominance and conquest with the natural world…
…when we’re intentionally cut off from the parts of us that fundamentally PROVE all that stuff is deadly nonsense?
How easy it is to normalise extraction and exploitation…
…when we’re taught from menarche that our bodies only exist to be exploited and extracted from?
Capitalism seeks to cut us off from our bodies because a world that honours + centres the cyclicality of nature is a world where capitalism simply cannot exist.
A world where cycling bodies are honoured (or at the very least, acknowledged) cannot coexist with a paradigm that defines anything that isn’t growth as failure, and anything that isn’t predictable or “typical” as dangerous.
The ideals of colonial capitalism on the micro scale show up in the shaming, extractive, rigidly linear, and productivity-obsessed way we relate to our own bodies.
Those same ideals on the macro scale are climate collapse, genocide, and patriarchal techbro oligarchy.
It’s the same monster.
Are bodies are of the earth.
To honour the earth we must also honour our bodies.
The way we relate to the cycles of our bodies is the same way we relate to the cycles of all of nature.
If the coloniser’s showing up in one, you can be damn sure it’s showing up in the other as well.
Free our bodies.
Free our blood.
Free our minds.
Free Palestine.
Three ways that menstruating folks can begin to attune to + honour their cyclicality (AKA - divest from colonial capitalist indoctrination of disconnection and dis-embodiment):
1. If you don’t already have one, begin a cycle tracking practice.
Colonial capitalism’s worldview is rigidly linear, “predictable”, clinical, forward-momentum-obsessed, and totally disconnected from stagnation, decay, and death.
Our cycling bodies are not.
In fact, they’re the opposite.
Beginning to attune yourself to your cycle (with womb or moon), will gently extricate you from colonial capitalism’s worldview, and reconnect you with the Wildness of your cyclical humanity.
In case you need one, I’ve made a downloadable and printable cycle tracker for you. Grab it HERE. It costs zero dollars.
2. Begin educating yourself on the physiological changes your body experiences with each cycle.
In our world, menstruating bodies are pathologised. They are seen as deviant, shameful, “wrong”, “broken”, and “not normal”.
Colonial capitalist patriarchy spends a hell of a lot of time teaching us how to repress, ignore, or “fix” our cyclicality — and no time whatsoever on how to live into it.
(Because, again, a world that actually honours the cyclicality of our bodies is a world where capitalism simply cannot exist)
I’ve written a little ebook for you — outlining the basics of the physiological shifts experienced through each of the five seasons of our cycles. It’s fairly short, accessible, and it’ll support you enormously in cultivating more intimacy with your cycling body.
Download it HERE. It also costs zero dollars.
3. Come and join us inside REWILDING.
We work with cycles as the map OUT of colonial capitalist indoctrination, and INTO our wild humanity, and our role in the revolution.
Inside that space, you’ll learn not only everything you need to know about how to honour and attune to your own cyclicality in a violently linear paradigm…
…but also how to use that cyclicality as your own personal guide in dismantling your internalised colonial capitalism, and stepping into the sacred work you’re here to do for a liberated world.
Currently, there are 7 spots available to join us, and we close with the Full Moon on the 13th of this month.
